EMG
"making the transition form guesswork to science"

What is EMG?

Surface EMG (electromyograpghy) is the worldwide standard for recording muscle activity. EMG is a reliable scientific clinical procedure that can be used in the dental practice to determine if muscles are part of pain or occlusal problems.

EMG provides accurate data regarding muscle activity during rest and function, and demonstrates muscle recruitment during chewing, clenching and swallowing which allows you to record muscle activity and document pathology definitively and reliably.

Why use EMG?

EMG indicates which muscles are functioning pathologically. As well as being essential for proper treatment, it saves time when you know which muscles need therapy.

EMG

It allows you to differentially diagnose skeletal vs. cranial relationships so you can direct your treatments accordingly. Correct Posterior Vertical Dimension and Optimal Mandibular Position can also be objectively calculated using BioEMG to record muscle function in clenching and swallowing.

Resting and functional EMG’s are used as baseline measurements for pre-treatment, outcome measurements in post-treatment and It only takes a few minutes to know whether patients are responding to treatment. This kind of documentation can justify treatment to anyone, whether it be the patient or a referring practitioner.
